Pay no attention to that strange old man on Channel 9

Here. I actually haven’t watched it yet because it is just too freaky to see myself on video. I’ll wait till Edward Norton plays me in the movie version.

  1. I haven’t watched yet either! I’m too nervous! Will they understand you? Will they be able to think beyond classes and If statements? I need a cigarette…. about to hit play….

    (thanks for the excitement!)

  2. I think it would be good to do a “wishful thinking” exercise, where you write programs that you *wish* there was a magical compiler for.

What would it look like to express what a complicated UI would do? After you solve the problem of actually expressing the complicated UI in a simpler way than is currently practiced, you can then focus on implementing the magical compiler. And start to see what concessions might need to be made for compilation to be guaranteed feasible.

So what would the wondrous programs look like? What is a simpler way to express what we currently make complex?

  3. I had the same feeling when I did my Bling channel 9 interview with Charles and Erik Meijer, I’m not used to being videotaped at all.
